The 14th annual conference of the Transnational Working Group for the Study of Gender and Sport

The topic of this year’s conference is “Emerging issues and alternative futures for gender and sport”. The conference will be held from November 16-18, 2022, in a physical format at the Nord University campus in Bodø, Norway in co-operation with the Nord University Sport and Society research group.

Gender and sport is a wide-ranging theme and this year’s conference is focusing on emerging issues and possible futures for gender and sport. Research on sport and gender has shown a great variety of issues and challenges, but also possibilities. We encourage academics, policymakers, and practitioners to discuss gender and related topics in sport, as well as emerging transformations, difficulties, and potentials. While certain concerns and challenges endure, new and undiscovered phenomena are also reshaping gendered issues in sport in innovative ways. Therefore, we urge conference participants to propose ways to address growing issues and potentials in gender and sport research, policymaking, and practice.
