Call for Papers G22: Shaping hopeful futures in times of uncertainty: the challenges and possibilities of gender studies
The Centre for gender studies at Karlstad University invites the community of gender scholars to g22, the fifth national conference for gender studies and researchers working with a gender perspective. The dynamic between uncertain times, hopeful futures, and contested histories will be the central point of engagement.
We invite contributions relating to but not limited to the following topics:
• Experiences from the pandemic
• Activism and social engagement in contemporary and historical perspectives
• The relationship between gender studies and gender research in other disciplines
• Postcolonial and transnational feminisms
• Race, racism, and anti-racism
• Technology, digitality, social/media
• Climate, ecology, posthumanism, and the non-human
• Health, medicine, healthcare
• Femininities, Masculinities
• Trans*, non-binary, lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer, intersex, and hetero lives
• Gender equality and gender mainstreaming
• Economy, market, organizational life
• Education
We look forward to receiving your suggestions for panel sessions, round table discussions
and paper presentations. We also encourage suggestions for less traditional formats such
as exhibitions, performances, interventionist happenings, theatre plays and other contributions challenging the traditional scholarly mode of engagement.
Language
The conference has two official languages:
Swedish and English. To make it easier for participants who only speak one language, each session should either be in Swedish or English.
Timeline
• 6 December 2021: deadline to submit panel proposals
• 31 January 2022: deadline to submit abstracts
• 31 March 2022: decisions regarding acceptance
• 15 April 2022: registration opens
• 31 May 2022: registration closes for participating scholars
• 15 September 2022: registration closes for other participants
