Language: English

Participation: via online link

Themes:

gender equality in early childhood education and care (ECEC)
gender stereotypes and norms
good practices to promote gender equality in ECEC in the Nordic region
Gender has a significant effect on our day-to-day activities, and we start to internalize gender norms and roles at the earliest stages of our lives. To combat harmful stereotypes in the field of early childhood education and care (ECEC), incorporating a gender perspective is an effective tool.
What does the newest Nordic research say on gender equality in early childhood education? How do we make sure that all children have the same opportunities and responsibilities regardless of their gender? What is the role of legislation?

Based on a recent mapping commissioned by the Finnish presidency in the Nordic Council of Ministers, the current measures and good practices to promote gender equality in ECEC will be presented and discussed by Nordic experts in the field.

Target audience: preschool teachers, decision-makers, researchers and NGOs
