CENTRE FOR INTERNATIONAL MOBILITY
The World Bank Group (WB) and the African Development Bank (AfDB) are
development financing institutions which provide grants, concessional
financing and technical assistance to developing countries. The Ministry for
Foreign Affairs of Finland works in partnership with these institutions in
implementing the Governments development policy.
The partnership includes funding for Finnish experts in fields where Finland
can provide added value. Within this framework, the Ministry for Foreign
Affairs has agreed to finance Senior Specialist of Finnish Nationality to be
assigned to the following two opportunities under the guidelines at the WB and AfDB respectively. The Centre for International Mobility CIMO administrates the recruiting process on behalf of the Ministry.

Senior Disability and Development Specialist
Division/VPU: Social, Urban, Rural Resilience Global
Practice (GPSURR)
Location: Washington D.C., USA
For the World Bank, disability is a social inclusion issue with huge development implications. The Bank has now on-boarded the Global Disability Advisor.
She is part of the social inclusion team in the GPSURR. The location of the
Global Disability Advisor in the social inclusion team signals an understanding
of disability as a cross cutting issue.
The World Banks commitment on disability issues is channeled across all
aspects of its work through a three-pronged approachbuilding evidence,
promoting mainstreaming in operations, and building partnerships and
awareness. To support the Global Disability Advisor the World Bank is
recruiting a Senior Disability and Development Specialist.
Qualifications and Experience:
Solid background in disability rights and disability inclusive
development
Minimum a Masters degree in Law, Economics, Social Sciences, International
Development or other relevant discipline
Minimum of 8 years relevant experience
Relevant field experience and working with disability rights related
issues in developing countries is desirable
Knowledge of methods in mainstreaming disability into programs and
operations
Demonstrated capability to work in a team environment; strong
interpersonal and communications skills
Excellent command of oral and written English. Working knowledge of
other languages is desirable.
2) THE AFRICAN DEVELOPMENT BANK
Gender Policy Expert
Division: Office of the Special Envoy on Gender (SEOG)
Location: Abidjan, Ivory Coast, the AfDBs headquarters
The Office of the SEOG aims to recruit a gender policy expert for duration of
1 year (renewable) to support the Bank to scale up gender mainstreaming and
sustain progress in Banks operations and promote gender equality in Africa.
The Gender Policy Expert, in line with the framework agreement between
the AfDB and the Finnish government, will work under the supervision of
the Vice President/Special Envoy on Gender (SEOG) on a number of ongoing
tasks to operationalize the Banks Gender Strategy.
Qualifications and Experience:
Good understanding of contemporary challenges related to African
development and social inclusion, in particular gender issues, in
African countries
Minimum a Masters degree in Social Sciences, Gender, Education,
Economics or related areas
Minimum of 7 years relevant work experience in relevant field
including experience in gender equality work and mainstreaming
Experience from training and knowledge of different training methods
and in training skills
Demonstrated capability to work in a team environment; strong interpersonal
and communications skills
Excellent command of oral and written English and/or French
Be a national of one of the member countries of the Bank.
